The poet TS Eliot had described plagiarism in poetry in the following words: “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different”. Gulzar picked up Ghalib’s words, replaced the जी with दिल and completely changed the the meaning of the lyrics! Jidhar Dekhoo Teri Tasveer Some time in the early 80’s I had been to Mumbai with my friends and we went to   see Mahaan at V Shantaram’s Plaza. They had installed a new sound system. I can still remember the clarity and crispness of the sound. This song Jidhar Dekhoo stuck with me since then. Kishore’s majestic vocals supported by RD’s outstanding music and Anjaan’s simple words that set the tone of the film. This was the first song in the film that a young Amitabh sings for his wife Wahida Rehman. This is one of my favorite songs. And it seems to get better every time I hear it.　 Movie - 1942 A Love Story　 The movie has the backdrop of India's freedom struggle. The song is picturised on Manisha Koirala (as Rajjo, the shy daughter of a poor freedom fighter) and Anil Kapoor (Naren, the uber stylish son of a pro-British zamindar). Naren is wooing Rajjo. She is aware of the societal pressure and the divide between their families. The song is picturised on the set of a drama in a theatre. The main instruments are Bhanu Dasgupta's Accoustic Guitar, Ronu Majumdar's Bamboo Flute, light percussions for the beats, Cello and the best accompaniment of Violin's for harmony. In this song, the Violin's have a love affair like duet with the main vocal's of Kumar Sanu. They compliment his singing tone for tone. Ya Mustafa Has Seventeen Versions! It was in early 80’s that my romance with RD Burman’s music started to peak. It was during those days that I heard the classic from Sanam teri kasam – Dekhta Hoon Koi Ladki Haseen sung by Kishore Kumar . Amazing song with contemporary feet tapping music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFFNlCmy_fc A decade down the line in 1994 came a terrible film called Aaatish starring Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon. It had equally forgettable music by Nadeem Shravan . There was one song that somehow stuck - Meri Muhobat Ka Tu Gawah . It was sung by Jolly Mukherjee, Mukul Aggarwal & Alka Yagnik . AIRTEL मला तुझ्यावर भरोसा नाय  In April I got an SMS from Airtel saying they wanted my conformation to get 10 Gb FREE for 3 months. I accepted their offer. That was a blunder. I still have 9 Gb balance of that 10 Gb's. For the past 2 months I have not recieved any bill from Airtel on my registered email address.When I checked on their website I was shocked to see internet charges of  Rs.23000. Then started the painful process of calling their call center on 121. The call center guys kept on promising that they will resolve this and call me back. So far there have been 4 empty promises and no call backs. This is the treatment they give to a person who has been with Airtel for a very long time. Here is a copy of the mails that I have sent to Airtel.
