Irony that is India - 2
• A person earning a salary of Rs.2 lakhs has to pay income tax, but a person earning Rs.10 lakhs can go without paying income tax if the income is from agriculture. No wonder then that almost all politicians own (so called) agricultural lands!
• You will not get any refund or compensation if the currency you have is found to be fake. Morever, you can be jailed if you are not able to prove the source of the fake currency!
• You are responsible for any email that is sent from your IP address. Even if your IP is hacked still the primary responsibility lies with you!
• Politicians keep on compalaining about potholed roads. But it is these very politicians who indulge in road digging for erecting self congratulatory hoardings and constructing pandals. Morever, most of the road building contracts go to companies that are in some way connected to the local politico!
• Only in India are people facing criminal charges like rape, murder and dacoity elected as Members of Parliament. Furthermore they also make laws for people like us!
• You may be denied a seat in a prestigious colege inspite of getting 85% but will be readily admitted in the same if you happen to belong to one of the backward castes!
• While people everywhere strive to show that they are “forward”, Gujjars in Rajasthan actually fought with the government to declare them as “backward”!
• All the Muslim countries have strict “Shariat” laws which include cutting of limbs. But Muslims in India have “Muslim” laws for issues like marriage and divorce but when it comes to criminal offences they feel it is their right to have the punishment as defined in IPC!
• People in Kashmir can buy property anywhere in India, but non Kashmiri Indian citizens cannot purchase property in Kashmir!
• The Communist Party of India supported the ruling Congress party, yet it called for a nation wide strike to oppose the governments policies!
• The gold you buy in India has always to be sold at a rate less than the selling price (on that day), if it is sold at a shop other the one from where it was purchased!
• Scenes of kissing between a hero and heroine on celluloid is debated but rape of the herione is shown elaborately!
• Every electricity consumer has to pay a charge under the head of Transmission and Distribution Losses. What this actually means among other reasons is the loss of power due to theft. That means you have to pay for the inability of the supplying company’s to control power theft!
• Despite having a huge shortage of power for the past 10 years there isn’t any significant investment done to generate power!
• The government does not supply power 24x7 to industries and now it is going to charge a premium for industrial use of diesel!
