Some questions on the party manifestos
All the major political parties have published their manifestos to lure the voter in the Assembly elections in Maharashtra. I have some questions to ask these politico’s. Since there is no way that I would get access to them I am raising these stupid questions (in italics) here on my blog. The main question is why haven’t they taken steps when they were in power?
Congress-NCP
• The manifesto mentions a masterplan for ‘Vision Mumbai’ to develop the metropolis as an international financial hub within five years. – Dear rulers what have you done in the past 10 years for the betterment of Mumbai and its citizens?
• Extension of Pune-Mumbai Expressway up to Sion, completion of Mumbai-Nashik Expressway – Is there an action plan for the maintenance of these highways? What is the time period for completion? How long would toll be charged on these highways?
• Establishing crisis management group for Mumbai city are the other key proposals. – What has been done since the attack on Mumbai? Have you even ensured that the police have bullet proof jackets and other equipment?
• The manifesto also assures to provide pucca houses to 75 lakh slum dwellers in the state, including 58 lakh staying in Mumbai. – Free houses for people who do not pay taxes and those who steal the low level jobs of the locals.
• It also promises to make Maharashtra free from load-shedding by 2012. – This is wonderful! Just how are they going do this? Vilasrao Deshmukh declared so many power projects in the state but did not give land to the power companies. Not a single MW has been added to generation capacity in the past 10 years.They had declared that they will give free power to farmers after elections and after winning the elections they shamelessly said that, “ such things are said during elections. These should not be taken seriously.”
• Raising per capita income by Rs 1 lakh per year from 58,000 – Just tell how and till when?
• Loan to farmers up to Rs 3 lakh at the rate of 3% interest – Farmers would rather have crop insurance schemes.
• Individual water connections to all individual families – Where will the water come from? There isn’t any plan to construct more dams.
• Women to get 50% reservation in panchayat samiti elections – And their husbands will continue to rule by proxy!
• Every female child born in the state to get 1.5 lakh for education and marriage under scheme ‘Maher’ – What is the fine print?
• Free education for girls up to graduate-level and free education for boys up to Std XII. - If girls are going to get Rs. 1.5 lakhs for education then what is this free education?
BJP-Shiv Sena
• Poor and down trodden sections of the upper caste have been deprived of quotas. Hence for economically backward classes we will provide 15 percent reservation. – Long live the Quota Raj. Kill merit. And why 15 percent? Is this 15 percent going to be part of the already cramped 65% reservation or would it be part of the 35% open seats?
• Construct one more sea link which would connect Versova with Nariman Point. – Hey Congress, me too!! These guys failed to complete a project that started when they were in power.
• Eight lane express way similar to the Mumbai-Pune one would be built to connect Mumbai-Nasik-Nagpur – Again me too!!
• Solving water problems – How my dear just how? You even did not have the will to complete the river joining project.
• Loadshedding free Maharashtra in 2 years – Laughable. These were the people who had screamed that will throw Enron in the Arabian Sea
I had planned to express my views on manifesto’s from the other parties too ….. but I have lost interest.
Congress-NCP
