Happiness - Story of Buddha

There was a king who had everything except happiness and peace. He was so much disturbed , he wanted to seek some sage's advice. He found out that Buddha was living across the river and sent words to him to come and show him how to be happy. Buddha agreed and came with his disciples. Buddha told the king that he wanted all the comforts and the king gladly provided him.

One week went by, but no word from Buddha. He was really enjoying all the luxuries. 2 weeks went by, still no advice from Buddha . The king got a bit impatient and thought of giving him one more week. Buddha aske for more luxuries and enjoyed them to the full extent. Finally, the king couldn't take it any longer and ordered him to leave his palace.

Buddha agreed and started to go with his disciples. When the king escorted him to the banks to put him in a boat, he asked Buddha,"Sir, atleast tell me now, how to find happiness. you enjoyed the food, you enjoyed the drink, you enjoyed the comforts. I gave you everything, but you never once opened your mouth to tell me how to be happy"

Buddha said." O king, Look at me am I sad? I enjoyed every comfort you gave me for weeks, yet when the time came to leave them, I was not sad. I can just walk away to my old life. Can you do it? You find happiness when you are unattached. I enjoyed my time here, but I am not sad to leave them and go back to my ashram."
