What is a NRI and NRO account

After coming to Calgary, I needed some information on NRI and NRO accounts. Lots of people kept telling lotsa things. ultimately it was the old trusted Economic Times, Mumbai that gave some easy to understand and good information The government gives non-resident Indians (NRI) the opportunity to open rupee dominated accounts in India for repatriating funds. The most popular among these are the NRE and NRO accounts. A NRE ( Non-Resident External ) account gives an individual the opportunity to deposit money earned from abroad. It can be either in the form of a savings or current or term deposit account. Apart from the account holder, a resident can also operate the NRE account for making local payments as long as he has the power of attorney. A NRO ( Non-Resident Ordinary ) account gives one the privilege of depositing overseas earnings as well as Indian earnings. An NRO account can be in the form of saving, current and term deposit account. However, one can have a resident of India

All the trivia are sourced from conversations with individuals, heard on radio or internet. I do not stake any claim for the authenticity. The intention is to relive the excitement of that time. O Hansini Shailendra Singh was the original voice of Rishi Kapoor after Bobby. So it was natural that he was chosen as playback for Zahreela Insaan. RD was composing a song for this movie when Kishore Kumar happenned to drop in. He was very impressed with the tune and asked RD who the singer was? RD replied it was you. Kishore was very happy and suggested that they get it recorded the next day. So while all songs from Zahreela Insaan were sung by Shailendra Singh, this one got sung by Kishore Kumar ... and it turned out to be the biggest hit. The song was O Hansini ... Amanush The music for this Shakti Samanta film was by Shyamal Mitra, but RD had provided his musicians, his recording studio and also his home for this movie! Financial Statements

An excellent article in the Times of India of 10th January 2009 giving fundamental information on Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statements. Balance Sheet A company’s balance sheet is essentially a statement of its wealth (assets) and what it owes to others (liabilities) at a particular point in time. The assets could be fixed assets like land, buildings, plant and machinery. They could be movables like cars or computers. They could also be liquid assets in the form of cash reserves or receivable payments due to the company from those it has sold goods to, for instance, or repayments on loans given. Liabilities are anything the company has to pay to others. Thus, they would include payments due to its suppliers. Loans taken from others as well as interest due on those loans would also be part of the liabilities. What is owed to the shareholders would also fall in this category. However, balance sheets present this information not explicitly under the heads assets and liabiliti

He has his own psychological problems. The film flopped probably because the of the wrong selection of the woman who is mudered. That lady cannot act and is nowhere is she sensual as demanded by the story line. The director appears confused between sensuality and sexuality. Irfan Khan is first rate as usual. हजारों ख्वाहिशें ऐसी हजारों ख्वाहिशें ऐसी की हर ख्वाहिश पे दम निकले बहुत निकले मेरे अरमान लेकिन फिर भी कम निकले Ghalib’s poetry has the quintessential quality of striking exactly that right chord in your heart. This film by Sudhir Mishra takes its name and inspiration from the above. It has a good story, well defined characters and some good acting by newcomers. Still, I feel the film should have been made more fast paced and exciting. It tends to drag in a lot of places. The story, involving three young protagonists, spans five years from the late 60’s, when the Naxal movement was gaining steam in Bengal, to the mid-70’s, with the imposition of Emergency in a power-grabbing manoeuver by Indira Gandhi. I have not experienced this era and would go only by hearsay and reading books and newspaper articles. असेच एक गाणे आहे " ले जा ले जा रे " sung by Sheya Ghoshal and Ustad Vilaayat Khan from Ustaad and The Divaa's . The video is pretty ordinary and the actress fails to portray the innocence of the girl singing the song. The heroine is worried that her beloved is not paying enough attention to her. She is wondering about what she lacks that he is not able to hold his attention. लेजा लेजा रे महकी रात में चुराके सारे रंग लेजा राती राती मैं भीगूँ साथ में तू ऐसी मुलाक़ात देजा नी मुइए मन मैला, मन मैला क्या करना, है ऐसा.. न भाए पिया को, तन गोरा क्या करना, है ऐसा.. लेजा लेजा.. चुराके सारे रंग लेजा.. राती राती मैं भीगूँ साथ में तू ऐसी मुलाकात लेजा I like this line of this song a lot. It has a pun when she says that she wants to get drenched in a celebration of passion and emotions the whole night with him. She desires be with him all the night at the same time she also means that she has shed enough tears being lonely all nights and wants him to be with her.

A beautiful song तू जो नही है तो sung originally by S B John of the (then) East Pakistan in 1959 for the film Savera with lyrics by Fayyaz Hashmi and music by Manzoor Hussain. This song has been beautifully adapted in the film Woh Lamhe and sung by Glen John. Whatever differences of opinion I may have with Mahesh Bhatt's views, but this guy makes movies on varied subjects. His themes are always different than others and his songs are good. Stories without an end

Once upon a time there lived a king with his queen and a lovely princess. They were living happily. One day the young princess met a sage. Among other things he told her that if she wanted to be happy in life she should take her own decisions. She became convinced her that since it was her own life she should decide for herself what is good for her. She knew that she could ask others about their views, but ultimately it has to be her decision. One day she met a handsome young man of the neighbouring kingdom. जेते जेते पोथे होलो देरी आर डी चे एक अतिशय तरल बंगाली गाणे आहे - जेते जेते पोथे होलो देरी . ह्याच गीताच्या चालीवर " आँधी " मधील " तेरे बिना जिंदगीसे शिकवा " बेतले आहे . हे गीत पश्चिम बंगाल मधे पूजा गीत म्हणून ओलखले जाते . पूर्वी जसे महाराष्ट्रात भावगीते प्रसिद्ध व्हायची तशीच दुर्गा पूजेच्या वेळेस ही पूजा गीते release केली जातात . या गीताचे बोल आणि त्याचे English translation द्यायचा हा प्रयत्न आहे. Why are we on the backfoot against Pakistan

मला आवडलेला एक अतिशय उत्तम लेख . दि . २९ डिसेंबर २००९ च्या महाराष्ट्र टाईम्स च्या अंकात प्रकाशीत झाला। लेखक आहेत सुहास फडके . यातील शेवटच्या काही मतांशी मी सहमत नाही , मात्र एकंदरीत हा लेख आपल्याला विचार करायला लावतो . (I don't subscribe to some views. Nevertheless the article is thought provoking). पाकसमोर आपण दरवेळी शेपूट का घालतो? पाकिस्तानविरूद्ध युद्धज्वर निर्माण केल्यानंतर पुन्हा एकदा भारताने माघार घेतली आहे . असे घडण्याची ही पहिलीच वेळ नाही. याच दशकाच्या आरंभी , अतिरेक्यांनी संसदेवर हल्ला चढवल्यानंतर अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी यांच्या नेतृत्वाखालील राष्ट्रीय लोकशाही आघाडीच्या सरकारने , सीमेवर सैन्याची प्रचंड जमवाजमव केली. कोणत्या क्षणी भारत चढाई करणार असे चित्र निर्माण झाले. प्रत्यक्षात तसे काहीच झाले नाही. पाकिस्तानच्या भारताच्या सार्वभौम अशा प्रतिका
